Steve Winwood and Tedeschi Trucks Band linked up for a pair of shows last weekend at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Winwood joined Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks and their bandmates on a two-song medley of covers by Sly & the Family Stone.
Winwood’s opening sets were made up of songs from his stints with The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith, along with solo favorites like “Back in the High Life Again” and “Higher Love.”
Winwood came back out during TTB’s set on Friday and played electric guitar alongside Tedeschi and Trucks. The collaboration consisted of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Sing A Simple Song” and “I Want To Take You Higher” rolled out together.

The following evening, Tedeschi Trucks Band ended their performance by offering “With a Little Help From My Friends” as the encore. Mitch Chakour, father of TTB vocalist Alecia Chakour, accompanied Gabe Dixon on keyboards and Winwood’s daughter, Lilly Winwood, joined the TTB singers during The Beatles cover finale.
