Tedeschi Trucks Band brought their Deuces Wild Tour to the Bay Area this past weekend, where they wrapped a two-night stand at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley featuring support from Little Feat on Saturday night. The run came to a close with three members of Little Feat teaming with the TTB on a medley of Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Trunk” and Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “Volunteered Slavery.”
Little Feat kicked off the festivities on Saturday by delivering a nine-song set. The legendary rock band opened with “Let It Roll” and went on to perform such classics as “Time Loves A Hero,” “Spanish Moon,” “Dixie Chicken” and “Tripe Face Boogie.” Percussionist Sam Clayton fronted a cover of Bobby Charles’ “Why Are People Like That?” towards the middle of the set to give fans a taste of the recently released Little Feat album Sam's Place. “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” closed out the frame.

Susan Tedeschi emerged for TTB’s lengthy Saturday night set with Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia’s iconic Alligator guitar in hand. Tedeschi played the 1955 Fender Stratocaster on the “Statesboro Blues” opener and the “Let Me Get By” that followed before utilizing her own axes. The set rolled on with originals “Part Of Me” off 2013’s Made Up Mind and “Hear My Dear” from the 2022 quadruple studio album I Am The Moon.
A big surprise came next as vocalist Mike Mattison led the TTB through a debut cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Monkey Man.” Susan Tedeschi then picked Alligator back up for a take on Grateful Dead classic “Mr. Charlie.” From there, the ensemble went with “Do I Look Worried” and worked an extended “Shame” into their version of Blind Joe Reynolds’ “Outside Woman Blues.”
The next portion of the set was devoted to a run of originals “Bound For Glory,” “Midnight In Harlem,” “Yes We Will” and “Ain’t That Something.” A cover of the Joe Cocker-popularized “Space Captain” concluded the TTB’s main set on Saturday night.
Susan Tedeschi and TTB keyboardist Gabe Dixon got the encore underway by dueting on Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Tedeschi then welcomed Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne, guitarist Fred Tackett and bassist Kenny Gradney to share the stage on the aforementioned show-closing “Leaving Trunk”/”Volunteered Slavery” medley.
