Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off their 2025 tour last night with their first of two headlining performances at the group’s second annual Sun, Sand and Soul concert vacation weekend at Seascape Resort in Florida. Legendary musician Bonnie Raitt made a guest appearance with the TTB late in their set on Friday night.
Bonnie Raitt was on hand to perform on Saturday at Sun, Sand and Soul 2025. Susan Tedeschi has long cited Raitt as one of her biggest inspirations. Tedeschi and her husband and co-band leader Derek Trucks previously performed with Bonnie Raitt at the 2016 Holland International Blues Festival, a collaboration Susan described as a “lifelong dream” in a post on social media.

Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks surprised fans by swapping their positions on stage for the first time in the band’s +15-year history. Tedeschi Trucks Band had been off the road since last November. The powerhouse 12-piece ensemble’s appearances at Sun, Sand and Soul begin their extensive Live In 25 North American Tour. Over 40 dates are currently scheduled through October.
The announcement of the 2025 tour included word the TTB are currently working on new music with producer Mike Elizondo (Sheryl Crow, Lake Street Dive, Fiona Apple). Tedeschi and Trucks will hit the studio with the band between tour stops and are aiming to release their first new music since 2022’s I Am The Moon series of albums early next year.
Tedeschi Trucks Band gave fans at Sun, Sand and Soul a preview by debuting a song entitled “Crazy Cryin'” to open their set. The rest of the 15-song performance featured such classic originals as “Anyhow,” “Do I Look Worried,” “Bound For Glory” and “Made Up Mind.” Additionally, I Am The Moon was represented by its title track, “Pasaquan” and “Sweet Soul Song.” A handful of covers made the setlist including Chuck Willis’ “I Feel So Bad,” Louis Jordan’s “Let The Good Times Roll” and Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.”
Bonnie Raitt emerged before “Don’t Think Twice” for a medley of Sleepy John Estes’ “Leavin’ Trunk” and Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “Volunteered Slavery.” Susan Tedeschi introduced Raitt as “The Queen.” Bonnie Raitt on slide traded licks with Derek Trucks ahead of the transition into “Volunteered Slavery.” Later, the TTB ended the night with an encore of “Soul Sweet Song” and “Let’s Go Get Stoned.”
