Tedeschi Trucks Band wrapped a two-night stand at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Wednesday. The Beacon finale saw the group going acoustic to kick off the second set.

TTB launched the first frame with guitarist/vocalist Susan Tedeschi leading the way through live favorite, “Don’t Drift Away.” “Part of Me” followed and contained some acoustic set foreshadowing with a tease of “I Can Feel You Smiling,” from the band’s 2022 album I Am The Moon. TTB then officially turned to I Am The Moon with the title track.

Set one also included covers of Junior Wells’ “Little by Little” — which Susan included on her 1998 album Just Won’t Burn — and Aretha Franklin’s “It Ain’t Fair,” featuring the dynamic vocals of Alecia Chakour. The Allman Brothers’ “Dreams” emerged from the Aretha tune with keyboardist Gabe Dixon and Tedeschi sharing lead vocal duties. Guitarist Derek Trucks initially eschewed the slide for some tasty fretwork ahead of a slide smokeshow on the cover from his former band at one of their favorite haunts.

Following first set closer, Joe Tex’s “Show Me,” vocalist Mike Mattison led a stripped-down ensemble sans Susan on Son House’s “Preachin’ Blues,” with Derek on acoustic slide. Tedeschi then emerged for I Am The Moon’s “I Can Feel You Smiling” accompanied by her husband on fingerpicked guitar.

After bringing out their Bob Dylan cover debut (SPAC) of Blood On The Tracks opener “Tangled Up In Blue” for its second play during night one at the Beacon, the acoustic set came to a close with a pair of Dylan cuts beginning with another song debuted at SPAC, the bluesy Blood On The Tracks deep cut “Meet Me in the Morning,” followed by classic “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.”

Tedeschi Trucks Band then plugged back in for a pairing of original “I Want More” and “Beck’s Bolero,” the latter including a “Freeway Jam” tease from the catalog of the late great guitarist. Additional second set highlights included the TTB debut of a song from the Derek Trucks Band album Songlines, “This Sky” as part of the intro to a geographically apt “Midnight In Harlem” and more Dylan, “Down in the Flood.”

Following second set closer “Made Up Mind,” TTB returned to end their Beacon stand with a song from the Joe Cocker catalog, “Space Captain.” The staple cover saw Susan leading the way sans guitar as well as a fiery exchange between “slide” players Trucks and trombonist Elizabeth Lea. Watch:
