Tedeschi Trucks Band closed out a two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Wednesday night. The 12-piece ensemble treated fans to almost an equal mix of covers and originals with the latter category including a rare performance of “Ball & Chain,” one of the TTB’s oldest songs.
Susan Tedeschi led the group through “Anyhow” to kick off the concert. The band then paired “Hear My Dear” with fellow I Am The Moon cut “Playing With My Emotions.” Next came “It’s So Heavy” and “Statesboro Blues,” the lone cover of the first set, before the TTB worked through Let Me Get By’s “Crying Over You.”

The ensuing “Ball And Chain” was the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s first performance of the ballad since a March 25, 2022 concert at The Cap as per Setlist.FM. Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks wrote the song with Oliver Wood of The Wood Brothers. A studio version was featured on Revelator, the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s 2011 debut studio album.
Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to I Am The Moon for the “Yes We Will” that followed the rarity. An extended “Idle Wind” closed out the set.
Last night’s second set began with a take on Son House’s “Preachin’ Blues.” Susan Tedeschi then helmed a performance of Revelator gem “Don’t Let Me Slide.” From there, the Tedeschi Trucks Band focused on covers for the duration of the frame as Van Morrison’s “Into The Mystic,” Derek and the Dominos’ “Anyday,” Prince’s “1999,” Charles Segar’s “Key To The Highway” and a medley of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” and the Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree” each made the setlist. The group also fit in originals “Made Up Mind” and “Learn How To Love.” A “Let’s Go Get Stoned” encore was tacked on for good measure.
