Ever since Alana Rocklin came aboard as the new bassist for STS9, the jamtronica pioneers have added a bevy of new covers to their repertoire. The most recent case happened last night at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, where Tribe debuted two new covers with the help of vocalist Maureen Murphy.

Murphy first emerged towards the end of the first set for a cover of “Good Times” by Chic that came in the middle of “Four Year Puma.” Maureen returned shortly after the start of the second set for a cover of Deee-Lite’s “Groove Is In The Heart” within “Kamuy.” STS9 was joined once more by Maureen Murphy for the “Better Day” that began a two-song encore which ended with “By The Morning Sun” as well as the “Click Lang Echo” second set closer. Jambands.com notes last night’s “Better Day” was STS9’s first since April 16, 2005 and first with a vocalist. The band completes a three-night stand in Athens tonight.
