Chicago prog-rockers Mungion have just released their debut album Scary Blankets. The band – which features Justin Reckamp (guitar/vocals), Joe Re (keyboards/vocals), Sean Carolan (bass/vocals) and David Collum (drums/vocals) – are clearly influenced by Phish and Frank Zappa yet add their own signature sound to the mix.

The quartet only formed a year ago but have been impressing with jam-filled live shows displaying their ridiculous chops. Scary Blankets features eight tracks totaling nearly an hour of music, each with plenty of twists and turns to keep listeners engaged. Listen to Mungion’s new album Scary Blankets:

The band will return to Chicago for a Mungion & Friends’ post Phish After-Party on Friday, June 24 at Tonic Room. Tickets are available via ClubTix.
