Strangefolk Jams With Gans And Crosby At Gathering Of The Vibes

This year’s installment of long running festival the Gathering Of The Vibes kicked off last night at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, CT. One of the event’s first main stage acts was the original lineup of Strangefolk. Strangefolk was one of the bands a top the lineup at the first Gathering Of The Vibes, then known as Deadhead Heaven, in 1996.

Jon Trafton, Reid Genauer, Erik Glockler and Luke Smith welcomed a pair of old friends to the stage during their set at Vibes ’13. Grateful Dead historian, radio host and performer David Gans sat in with Strangefolk for a cover of “Shakedown Street,” while God Street Wine / Phil Lesh Friend / Assembly of Dust multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby guested on “Westerly” and “Speculator.” Guitarist Jon Trafton also tipped his hat towards jam giants Phish by teasing “Bathtub Gin.” “Roads,” “Reuben’s Place” and “Alaska” were among the other songs Strangefolk performed at Vibes.
