Stormy Mondays | Medeski Martin & Wood In Tokyo

Back in 2008, in the midst of their Radiolarians experiments, Medeski Martin & Wood made their way to Tokyo to celebrate Halloween. While the show does include some offerings from that first batch of improv inspired songs, what we’re listening to this week is a pretty stellar and intriguing sequence from early on in the show: “Cat Creeps” > “I Want to Ride You” > “Dracula” > “Ijiji” > “Shiso.” 
The suite starts out with some slinky grooving before moving into the mandatory, but always welcome “Dracula.” From there, however, the group plunges into some truly wild and maddening material with the help of Cyro Baptista. Even if you’re well steeped in MMW, this is pretty crazy material. As always, enjoy!
