Stormy Mondays | Grateful Dead 1974 Retrospective Part 2

Even though The Grateful Dead only played a handful of shows in May of 1974, we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge a particularly noteworthy milestone for the second installment of the GD 74 retrospective: the 45 minute “Playing in the Band” from May 21. 
It’s obviously an epic voyage, although it is also a largely unsettled version that never quite finds its way to some of the prettier places that open up in other renditions from the same era, which is likely why it isn’t more famous than it is. Still, it’s a trip worth taking, and this matrix recording gives you a good sense of just appreciative the audience was at the time. As always, enjoy!
