Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks Announce New Album ‘Sparkle Hard’ & Share Single

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks will issue a new studio album entitled Sparkle Hard via Matador Records on May 18. The forthcoming record includes the freshly shared single “Shiggy.”

Frontman/guitarist Stephen Malkmus was joined by keyboardist Mike Clark, bassist Joanna Bolme and drummer Jake Morris during the Sparkle Hard sessions held at the new Portland, Oregon-based recording facility Halfling. Malkmus and The Jicks were joined on a song by guest vocalist Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth.

The 11-track follow-up to 2014’s Wig Out At Jag Bags was produced by The Decemberists’ Chris Funk and includes the previously shared track “Middle America.” Give a listen to the fellow single, “Shiggy,” here:
