Steal Your Covers | Kreutzmann Among Toubab Krewe Guests

On Wednesday night world-jammers Toubab Krewe played a show at the Blue Nile in New Orleans billed as “Steal Your Covers” in which they performed Grateful Dead songs and tunes the Dead would cover in concert. The show featured a number of special guests.

One of the band’s special guests was none other than Grateful Dead drummer Billy Kreutzmann, who sat in as the second drummer on “The Eleven,” “Turn On Your Lovelight” and “Midnight Hour.” Brian J. of Pimps of Joytime, Khris Royal and Mitch Stein were among Toubab Krewe’s other guests on Wednesday. “Bill Kreutzmann joined us for three songs on double drum kit with Terrence Houston. Mitch Stein, who plays with Stu Allen, was on keys and vocals all night. He had played with every member of the Dead except Bill…until last night!” Toubab Krewe’s Luke Quaranta told JamBase.
