Spafford kicked off the final leg of their extensive 2023 Fall Tour on Tuesday at High Gravity at Sierra Nevada Brewing in Mills River, North Carolina. The Arizona-born jam quartet unfurled a 53-minute “In The Eyes Of Thieves” sequence encompassing “All In.”
Kicking off a Southeast run for Spaff, the jam-heavy Mills River concert got underway with a seamless four-song set comprised of “All My Friends,” “Bee Jam,” “Hollywood” and “Windmill.” The explorations of the first frame set the tone for the second.

Another all-original affair, Spafford launched set two with the aforementioned “In The Eyes Of Thieves” > “All In” > “In The Eyes Of Thieves” segment. According to Spaffnerds, the band unveiled “In The Eyes Of Thieves” on February 17, 2012 at Prescott College in Arizona. “All In” arrived three years later in 2015 and then appeared on the group’s 2018 studio effort, For Amusement Only.
After guitarist Brian Moss led the band through the lyrical portion of the tune, the initial “ITEOT” traversed peaks and valleys, sounds and textures before dropping into “All In” after 22 minutes. Bassist Jordan Fairless handled lead vocals on “All In” ahead of another thorough exploration clocking in at 24 minutes and capped by a dance groove.
Spafford finished up “In The Eyes Of Thieves” to conclude the sprawling sequence. The quartet wrapped the second set with “Plans” ahead of a “Shake You Loose” encore.
