‘Don’t Do It’: Eggy Brings Out John Mailander & Lilly Winwood In Nashville

Eggy rolled into Nashville for a concert Wednesday night at The Basement East. The band covered The Band’s arrangement of “Don’t Do It” with the help of singer-songwriter Lilly Winwood and fiddler John Mailander.

Eggy summoned Winwood and Mailander for what turned out to be the penultimate song of the first set. Mailander, who is a member of Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, previously shared the live stage with Eggy when they toured together last fall. Eggy’s last performance of “Don’t Do It” before Wednesday’s collaborative effort took place in January 2024.

Mailander reemerged to join Eggy again in the second set. The guest fiddler accompanied guitarist Jake Brownstein, keyboardist Dani Battat, drummer Alex Bailey and bassist Mike Goodman on the Eggy originals, “Shallow Rivers” and “Agatha.”

Eggy’s tour continues in Tennessee tonight with a concert at Barley’s Taproom in Knoxville. Wednesday’s show in Nashville can be viewed via a nugs on-demand livestream replay.
