Sound Summit music festival announced the Sound Effects: SF Bay Area Musicians Relief streaming event featuring performances by Wilco, Los Lobos, Bill Frisell and more from the 2016 annual gathering at Mount Tamalpais State Park in Marin County, California. The streaming event will be hosted by nugs.tv on Sunday, September 27 at 7 p.m. PT.
Along with Wilco, Los Lobos and Frisell, Sound Effects will also present 2016 Sound Summit performances by The Stone Foxes and Matt Jaffe. Proceeds raised during the free stream will be donated to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
The 2020 Sound Summit was scheduled to return to Mount Tam on September 12, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Part of a message shared by Sound Summit organizers with the Sound Effects announcement stated:
We hope this bit of time travel to a great day of music on the mountain will make you mindful of the joy live music brings. And in turn inspire you to offer some love and support to artists who have nourished us with great tunes, resonant notes, and enduring memories and whom we’ll need to continue doing so when the time arrives to gather again. Be well, stay safe!
