Summer Camp Organizers Announce Inaugural Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie

Organizers of the Summer Camp Music Festival will debut their new Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie festival concept over Memorial Day Weekend, May 24 – 26, 2024. The inaugural edition of Solshine will be held at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois, the same venue where Summer Camp took place for its 22-year run.

Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie marks a new era for the festival following the last Summer Camp Music Festival this past May. Summer Camp producer Ian Goldberg revealed the event would transition to a “redefined camping and music experience at Three Sisters Park every Memorial Day starting in 2024 that will be presented by Summer Camp” in an announcement made on May 16, 2023.

“The spirit and community of Summer Camp will remain, but we are excited to again push boundaries, as we did when we started Summer Camp, and expand the festival’s mission by bringing the Solshine to the forefront. Solshine had been the house of our Make a Difference program and sustainability efforts, so elevating that intentionality to the overall festival was a big part of the plan. Summer Camp had evolved into much more than a music festival, it was a community centered around music and art. I wanted to recognize that in the name by not calling it a festival but a Reverie full of music and arts, such that we all can create our experience together – and have that build intentionality in our actions once we leave.”

Solshine will be preceded by a festival pre-party on Thursday, May 23. In addition to the music, attendees can expect a variety of workshops, food and craft vendors and activities in similar style to past Summer Camp festivals.

The initial 2024 Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie lineup will be announced soon. “The festival will host a diverse, cross-genre lineup of musical acts spanning jam bands, electronic, bluegrass, funk, rock, and everything in between,” as per a press release.
