The Smashing Pumpkins confirmed a new album is on the way and shared singles “Cyr” and “The Colour Of Love.” The band’s first new music since their 2018 studio album Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 features founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha joined by guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
Recently, the Pumpkins updated their website to include a number of countdown timers. The first of the timers went off today with the release of the two new songs. Both tracks were produced by Billy Corgan and were recorded in Chicago. A press release revealed an as-of-yet untitled studio album is coming.

Smashing Pumpkins tapped Linda Strawberry to direct the “Cyr” video. “‘Cyr’ is dystopic folly. One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time,” Corgan said in a statement. “To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”
“This is a goth fever dream of pent up emotion—an artistic visual release attempting to create a momentary escape from the emotional black cloud hanging over all of us this year,” added Strawberry. “A dark seduction filmed in quarantine at a social distance.” Watch the “Cyr” video below:
