Singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell will release her sophomore studio album, Trail Of Flowers, on March 22 via Rounder Records. Out today from the West Virginia native is the new single/video “Dollar Bill Bar,” one of 12 songs featured on the follow-up to 2021’s Long Time Coming.

Sierra Ferrell recorded the bulk of Trail Of Flowers at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, the city where she is currently based. Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton) and Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakam, Gillian Welch) produced the album, which features contributions from Nikki Lane, Lukas Nelson, Kristen Rogers and Chris Scruggs.

Always looking to defying labels while staying true to her roots, Ferrell discuss her goals for the album number two. “With Trail of Flowers, I wanted to make a fuller sound with bigger drums, but still stay true to the stripped-down feel of old-time music whenever it felt right,” the musician explained.

“I wanted to create something that makes people feel nostalgic for the past, but excited about the future of music,” Ferrell added. “I’m just trying to put words and melodies together and build it into something people can pour their feelings into, all their happiness and sorrows, so that it changes their reality a little bit and gives them some comfort. To me music is like medicine. Whenever I write a song and it feels healing to me, I know it can heal other people too.”

Sierra Ferrell, who will make her national television debut tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, enlisted Nikki Lane and Kristen Rogers to provide backing vocals on “Dollar Bill Bar.” The rollicking song comes on the heels of “Fox Hunt,” a song featured on Trail Of Flowers that Ferrell released last fall.
