Sea.Hear.Now Festival :: 09.29-30.18 :: Asbury Park, NJ
The inaugural Sea.Hear.Now festival took place at Asbury Park, New Jersey’s North Beach and Bradley Park on Saturday and Sunday. More than 45,000 attended over the course of the weekend according to the Asbury Park Press. The festival was put together by Danny Clinch and Tim Donnelly in conjunction with C3 Presents. Clinch, a famed photographer, was born in nearby Toms River and showed off his harmonica skills both during a late-night featuring his Tangiers Blues Band at the Stone Pony on Saturday and with various bands on the main stages.
Over 20 musical acts from a diverse range of genres performed at Sea.Hear.Now including Jack Johnson, Social Distortion, Ben Harper & Innocent Criminals, Brandi Carlile, Lettuce, Blondie, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Deer Tick and Nicole Atkins. A big surprise took place on Sunday night, when the Jersey Shore’s own Bruce Springsteen joined Social Distortion for “Bad Luck,” “Misery Loves Company” and a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire.” Jack Johnson also got in on the collaboration action by welcoming Clinch, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, G. Love and members of Milky Chance. In addition to the music, the event celebrated surf culture with demonstrations and contests featuring a number of professional surfers. Clinch’s photography was on display at Sea.Hear.Now which hosted live painting exhibits as well. Photographer Adam McCullough was on hand both at the festival all weekend and at the Stone Pony on Saturday night.
