Scott Metzger Plays Rare Solo Set At Ardmore Music Hall

Guitarist Scott Metzger has played in a variety of projects over the past decade and in a number of formations, but according to Scott his solo set at Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania was the first time he’s performed by himself in nearly 10 years. Hopefully music fans won’t have to wait another 10 years for a solo Metzger set as the guitarist impressed over the course of his short-but-sweet performance in Ardmore.

Scott’s set at Ardmore came as part of Wavy Gravy’s 80th Birthday Celebration at the venue. Metzger opened with a cover of The Band’s “Ophelia” and then treated attendees to a triple dose of cowboy songs the Grateful Dead have covered: “The Race Is On,” “Me & My Uncle” and “Katie Mae.” From there, he sang a pair of Nick Lowe songs, “I Knew The Bride (When She Used To Rock And Roll)” and “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day” before tackling the Grateful Dead original “Throwing Stones.” Scott ended his set with a take on Richard Thompson’s “1952 Vincent Black Lightning.”
