Santana Reunites Classic Lineup For First Show Since 1973

Last night, the classic Santana lineup of Carlos Santana (guitar), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, lead vocals), Neal Schon (guitar, vocals), Michael Carabello (percussion) and Michael Shrieve (drums) came together at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino in Las Vegas for their first live performance since 1973.

The show was filmed for an upcoming DVD/TV special. Santana’s classic early ’70s lineup was augmented by Karl Perazzo (percussion) and Benny Rietveld (bass) for the 20-song set which featured contributions from famed vocalist Ronald Isley on a pair of encores. On April 15 Santana will release a new album Santana IV featuring the classic band lineup.

Santana will soon embark on a short run of shows with Journey that will see Schon pull double duty by performing with both bands. Watch a handful of clips from last night’s performance:
