Country musician Toby Keith was honored at last night’s CMT Music Awards ceremony with performances by Sammy Hagar, Lainey Wilson and Brooks & Dunn. Keith died in February at age 62 after being treated for stomach cancer.
Former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens took part in the tribute to Keith, which included a toast citing one of the late musician’s lyrics as those in attendance held red Solo cups in a nod to Keith’s 1993 hit song “Red Solo Cup.” Brooks & Dunn honored Keith by performing his song, “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.” The tribute then saw Sammy Hagar lead a performance of Keith’s anthem “I Love This Bar.”
