Rye Bread Festival 2023 To Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of Watkins Glen Summer Jam
Oteil & Friends, North Mississippi Allstars and Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel are among the acts slated to perform July 27 – 29.

Organizers of the Rye Bread Music & Arts Festival detailed the daily lineups for the 2023 event, which will be held at Schaghitcoke Fairgrounds in Schaghitcoke, New York July 27 – 29. The festival coincides with the 50th anniversary of the legendary Watkins Glen Summer Jam with extended families of participating acts represented and special collaborations in the works.
Watkins Glen Summer Jam featuring the Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band and The Band drew over 600,000 music fans to Watkins Glen Grand Prix Raceway in Watkins Glen, New York on July 27 and 28, 1973. Duane Betts, son of ABB co-founding guitarist Dickey Betts, will perform with his band, Palmetto Motel, at Rye Bread on Thursday, July 27. Saxophonist and longtime Levon Helm Band member Jay Collins will serve as the festival’s Artist-At-Large. Neon Avenue and The Rye Bread Family Band are also slated to play the first day of this year’s festival.

North Mississippi Allstars cap the action on Friday, July 28 after sets from Cool Cool Cool, lespecial Dogs In A Pile, Couch and more. Dead & Company bassist and Allman Brothers Band alum Oteil Burbridge’s Oteil & Friends project delivers two sets as Rye Bread’s headliner on Saturday, July 29. Burbridge will be joined by organist Melvin Seals, guitarists Steve Kimock and Tom Guarna, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, drummer John Kimock and vocalist Lamar Williams Jr.. While Seals is best known for his long tenure in late Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia’s Jerry Garcia Band ensemble, Lamar Williams Jr. is the son of Lamar Williams, who played bass in The Allman Brothers Band from 1972 – 1976.
