Ryan Montbleau To Reform RMB For Album Release Party

Singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau will release a new album, dubbed Growing Light, on April 21. Montbleau will celebrate Growing Light with a pair of album release parties at Paradise Rock Club in his hometown of Boston on April 17 and 18, with the first night set to feature the original Ryan Montbleau Band lineup that toured extensively for nearly a decade.

Here’s Ryan’s statement about Growing Light:

There’s a deep familiarity, a tightness and a bond that comes from playing music with the same human beings for a decade. At the same time, there’s a freshness and an undeniable electricity that comes from playing music with new people on the fly, each with their own lifetime of experience under their belt. Either way, you can go deep with the music if you’re doing it right.

?In May of 2013 I went into the studio with the Ryan Montbleau Band that had stood by my side for ten solid years on the road. With Ben Ellman of Galactic producing, we recorded an album just as we knew the band was headed for a change. Since that time I’ve been performing much of this new material with different musicians…exploring new territory in front of audiences far and wide.

The album, called “Growing Light”, is ready and will be released on April 21st.

Just before the release date I will be performing two special shows at The Paradise in Boston. On April 17th, I’ll perform with the original lineup of Ryan Montbleau Band. They are my brothers, my roots, my 10-year backbone and they are the band that is on this “new” record.

On the following night I will be performing with a different lineup that I’ve been cultivating and experimenting with over the past year. It’s all a celebration for a collection of songs, and a journey, that I am quite proud of. And I am blessed to celebrate with so many great musicians, so many great people.

Hope to see you there.

-Ryan

Montbleau’s eponymous band first came together in 2003 and played their final show in December of 2013. Viola player Laurence Scudder, who left the band in 2011 and returned as a special guest at the RMB finale, will perform with the group on April 17. Mike Dillon, John Kimock, Marc Friedman and Beau Sasser are among the musicians Ryan has recently performed with at his gigs since the RMB parted ways. Tickets for the Boston shows go on sale Friday, January 23 at 10 a.m. ET.
