Matthews came out by himself to start the show with solo renditions of “Little Red Bird” and “Rye Whiskey.” Guitarist Tim Reynolds then emerged to help with “Oh.” From there the rest of the acoustic first set focused on classics such as “One Sweet World,” “Satellite,” “Typical Situation” and “The Song That Jane Likes.”

The guest parade started early in the second set when backing vocalists The Lovely Ladies added to “Rooftop,” “Stay” and “Everyday.” Later in the set Rolling Stones saxophonist and local scene fixture Tim Ries came out for “Jimi Thing.” Towards the end of the electric second set, The Lovely Ladies returned for “Be Yourself” and “I Did It.” Next up for DMB is their first performance at Montreal’s Bell Centre since 2003.
