The Rolling Stones Offer Tour Debut Of ‘Angie’ In France

Legendary rockers The Rolling Stones are reaching the end of their No Filter Tour of Europe. Last night the band played their second of three shows at U Arena near Paris in Nanterre, France. Once again the Stones wound up dusting off a classic song by fan request.

Sunday’s show started in similar fashion to other tour stops, as The Rolling Stones opened with a run of “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “It’s Only Rock & Roll (But I Like It)” and “Tumbling Dice.” Next up was a pair of blues covers from Blue & Lonesome. However, instead of the usual “Just Your Fool” the band performed Little Walter’s “Hate To See You Go.” From there, “Dancing With Mr. D” continued its comeback.

Before each concert Rolling Stones fans can vote on a song to be played in the seventh slot from a list of options on the band’s official app. “Angie” won out in Nanterre, beating out “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” “Dead Flowers” and “Beast Of Burden.” The Stones last performed the Goat’s Head Soup ballad at last fall’s inaugural Desert Trip festival in Indio, California.

All told The Stones treated French fans to an 18-song set that also included Keith Richards-led versions of “Happy” and “Slipping Away” and a bevy of hits such as “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Street Fighting Man” and “Brown Sugar.” The group said farewell with an encore of “Gimme Shelter” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” Next up is the tour closer on Wednesday night.
