Rodrigo y Gabriela Are ‘Descending To Nowhere’ For ‘A Take Away Show’

Rodrigo y Gabriela swung by Paris last month, where they played two sold-out concerts at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord. In between gigs, the Mexican guitar duo performed “Descending To Nowhere” in an empty venue for La Blogothèque’s A Take Away Show video series.

“Descending To Nowhere” is featured on Rodrigo y Gabriela’s latest studio album, In Between Thoughts … A New World, which arrived just days before the shows in Paris. The nine-track LP marked the pair’s first since 2019’s Mettavolution.

Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero made the most of having Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord to themselves in the new video. Sánchez and Quintero started performing “Descending To Nowhere” in the back corner of the theater. Eventually the pair began walking around as they played their wireless axes.

La Blogothèque shared the following in regards to Rod y Gab’s session:

Between two sold-out gigs at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, we caught Rodrigo y Gabriela warming up in the empty venue. This series of show opened a new cycle for the Mexican duo before embarking on a worldwide tour of more than 60 shows. Needless to say, they nailed it in just a few takes before walking the streets of Paris in search of the best coffee in town. Our director Hugo Jouxtel had shot a video with the band 9 years ago in Paris’ oldest food market around a cup of Moroccan tea this time. So many things have evolved in the virtuosos’ sound since then, but their skills are still as mesmerizing. Watch these masters of their craft exploring a new sonic palette in an epic ride entitled ‘Descending To Nowhere’.
