Rodrigo y Gabriela Visit ‘Egoland’ With Latest Single

Rodrigo y Gabriela unveiled a new single, “Egoland.” The track is set to land on the virtuosic guitarists’ upcoming album, In Between Thoughts…A New World, arriving via ATO Records on April 21.

Rodrigo Sánchez drew inspiration for In Between Thoughts…A New World — the duo’s first album in four years — when he discovered the Hindu philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, which is rooted in the idea of nondualism or a “single, infinite, and indivisible reality, whose nature is pure consciousness, from which all objects and selves derive their apparently independent existence,” as per author/teacher Rupert Spira. Along with experimenting with a new philosophy, the album also sees the duo experimenting with new sounds.

Rod y Gab announced the new record in February and shared the single, “Descending To Nowhere,” along with 2023 tour dates (see below). The duo now follows with “Egoland.” “The single elaborates on the sonic and spiritual explorations of the album,” as per a press release, “with unexpected elements enhancing their characteristic guitar proficiency including reverb-drenched slide guitar.”
