Out today from Blackberry Smoke is a swagger-filled cover of the title track from Bad Company 1976 album, Run With The Pack. The Georgia-based rockers are joined on their version of “Run With The Pack” by Bad Company co-founder Paul Rodgers on background vocals and Mastodon's Brann Dailor on percussion and additional background vocals.
BBS’ “Run With The Pack” is one of 10 tracks set to land on Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute To Bad Company, a forthcoming compilation due on October 24 via Primary Wave Music. The tribute features Bad Company covers from a mix of legendary and contemporary artists, including HARDY, The Pretty Reckless, Def Leppard's Joe Elliott & Phil Collen, Charley Crockett, Halestorm and more.
“Bad Company has always been one of those bands that just hits you in the chest – raw, soulful and real,” said Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr. “‘Run with the Pack’ is like a masterclass in groove and grit. There’s simplicity to it that’s so powerful – no frills, just feel. You don’t need to dress it up – it’s just honest. Paul Rodgers’ voice is cool confidence, never overdone, just authentic. That kind of music doesn’t age; it just gets cooler.”
Paul Rodgers was excited by the final product, stating: “Blackberry Smoke absolutely channeled the essence of the song and everyone delivered from their souls. I love every aspect of their performance harmonies, guitars and delivery!”
