Umphrey’s McGee continued their Winter Tour on Friday at the Palace Theatre in Albany, New York. The prog-jam rockers welcomed moe. drummer Vinnie Amico and keyboardist Robert Walter on a night that featured a number of bust outs and rarities.

The six-piece act got their evening in New York’s state capital going with “Domino Theory,” serving up the Death By Stereo cut for the first time since August of last year. The band looked to “Got Your Milk Right Here” next, playing the Ali Baba’s Tahni song for the ninth time since 2014. Walter emerged next as he lent his talents to a take on “Whistle Kids.” The pairing of “The Linear” and the first “White Man’s Moccasins” of 2019 followed. Amico took to the stage for the set closer as the local area resident teamed with Umphrey’s on a cover of “Cheap Sunglasses.” The ZZ Top tune from their 1979 release Degüello had been sitting on the shelf since a pair of performances in 2018.

The one-two punch of setlist staples “Miss Tinkle’s Overture” and “Wallestworth” got the second stanza off the ground. The sextet then looked to their take on Fugazi’s “Waiting Room,” offering up the song from the hardcore band’s 1988 self-titled EP for just the fourth time since 2015. “1348” worked its way into the first attempt on “Eat” in a little over a year. “Maybe Someday” and the pairing of “The Floor” with ending of “1348” brought the set to an end. Umphrey’s McGee delivered an extended encore that featured a take on “Puppet String” with “Soul Food I” dropped in the middle of it to put a cap on the night. Listen to full show audio below:
