Sacred steel specialist Robert Randolph will headline a special “Southern-Style Gospel Brunch” at Playhouse Square in Cleveland on Tuesday, July 19 as part of the Cleveland Rocks series of concerts set to take place during the Republican convention. Randolph will be joined by soul legend and Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer Sam Moore as well as the Ohio Gospel Players. Proceeds will benefit military charities including the Green Beret Foundation, The Folded Flag Foundation, The Guardians of Heroes Foundation, OH Fallen Heroes and the SRT-K9 Unit.

Organizers make specific mention the Cleveland Rocks concerts including Robert Randolph’s performance are not connected to any political party. “Cleveland Rocks 2016 events are private, invitation-only and are not connected with or sanctioned by any political party or its affiliated committees, nor authorized by any candidate or federal candidate’s committee. Tickets for the events will be made available only to paid sponsors and invited guests. Monies paid by sponsors will not be used to influence any political party or candidate committees. These events are designed to comply with the Rules of the U.S. Senate and House,” reads a note about the event.

When asked about his decision to play at an event during the GOP Convention on Twitter, Robert responded that he’ll also be performing during the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia and that he wants to bring attention to music education for underprivileged kids:
