Robbie Robertson Tribute Concert To Feature Trey Anastasio, Eric Clapton, Bobby Weir & More

“Life Is A Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson” will be held on October 17 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. An impressive roster of all-star musicians will honor the late The Band co-founder including Trey Anastasio, Margo Price, Eric Clapton, Bob Weir and Warren Haynes.

Ryan Bingham, Mike Campbell, Eric Church, Elvis Costello, Warren Haynes, Bruce Hornsby, Jim James, Jamey Johnson, Noah Kahan, Daniel Lanois, Taj Mahal, Van Morrison, Robert Randolph, Nathaniel Rateliff, Allison Russell, Mavis Staples, Benmont Tench, Don Was and Lucinda Williams are also aboard for the tribute put together by Blackbird Presents. The Last Waltz director Martin Scorsese is among the executive producers of “Life Is A Carnival.”

Robbie Robertson died at age 80 on August 9, 2023. Robertson was the main songwriter and guitarist for The Band, a group he co-founded with Garth Hudson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel. The Band initially served as Ronnie Hawkins’ backing ensemble when they were known as The Hawks and went on to back Bob Dylan before forging their own Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-worthy path. Robertson wrote such classic songs as “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” “Life Is A Carnival,” “The Weight” and “Up On Cripple Creek.”

“Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson” will feature performances of Robbie’s songs from both his solo career and time with The Band. The Forum will host the concert 50 years after serving as the last stop on The Band’s 1974 tour with Bob Dylan.
