Rhino & The Capitol Theatre To Host 5-8-77 Revisited Grateful Dead Dance Party

On Monday May 8 – the 40th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s famed May 8, 1977 concert at Barton Hall on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York – Rhino Entertainment will present the 5-8-77 Revisited Grateful Dead Dance Party at The Capitol Theatre. The listening party event in Port Chester, New York will feature the officially issued recording of the show coming out via Rhino on May 5.
Rhino is also issuing the 11-disc May 1977: Get Shown The Light box set on May 5 featuring the Dead’s performance in New Haven on May 5, 1977, as well as Boston on May 7, 1977 and in Buffalo on May 9, 1977. The Cornell show is also featured within the box set and is being released separately as well. Rhino will have copies of the Cornell ‘77 show available for purchase at the Dance Party. Photographer Larry Reichman, who was on hand 40 years ago to capture images of the concert in Ithaca, will be projecting never-before-seen photos from the night onto the walls of the theatre.
Tickets are being specially priced at – $6.50 the original cost for a ticket to the Barton Hall gig 40 years ago. Head here for more information.
