U2 posted a message on their website stating Eagles Of Death Metal will not in fact be appearing on stage with them in Paris tonight. A different “surprise guest” is however planned. Here’s the full statement from U2:

“We’re back in Paris and it’s great to be here. Some people have been saying that Eagles of Death Metal will appear on stage with U2 tonight. This is not the case. We have another surprise guest planned for tonight’s show.”

According to a report from Billboard, Eagles of Death Metal will perform with U2 on Sunday night at Paris’ AccorHotels Arena. If the report holds true it would be the group’s first performance since their show at Le Bataclan in Paris was stormed by terrorists on November 13.

Billboard’s article reveals Eagles Of Death Metal, including Josh Homme who doesn’t generally tour with the band, will join U2 for the final song of the night on Sunday. Sunday’s show comes one day before a second U2 performance in Paris and the debut of U2: Innocence + Experience Live in Paris on HBO. Billboard also reports EODM will resume their European Tour in February.

U2 was very helpful to Eagles Of Death Metal in the aftermath of the terrorist attack and even offered use of their private plane to the band.
