Remembering Warren Zevon: Performing On ‘The Jon Stewart Show’

Renowned singer-songwriter Warren Zevon sadly passed away at the young age of 56 on this day in 2003. The beloved performer born in Chicago in 1947 was known for his impressive and personal compositions, penning many well-known songs such as “Lawyers, Guns & Money,” “Werewolves Of London” and “Desperados Under The Eaves.”
Covered by countless other artists, his collaborations included working with Jackson Browne, Mick Fleetwood, Jerry Garcia and David Gilmour, among many others. In remembrance of Warren 13 years after his death after a battle with cancer, below is a clip from an appearance he made on the short lived late night MTV program The Jon Stewart Show in 1995.
There in support of his then-just-released album Mutineer, the June 1995 taping featured a performance of the LP’s title track. Introduced by the future The Daily Show host as someone who’s “written so many great songs he deserves his own jukebox in a very cool bar,” watch the touching performance by Zevon and his band below:
