Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover The Cars In Singapore

Red Hot Chili Peppers honored The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who died earlier this month, by performing “Just What I Needed” in Singapore on Sunday. The concert was held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Marina Bay, Singapore.

The cover debut took place towards the end of the Chili Peppers’ 15-song main set last night. RHCP played “Just What I Needed” after tackling “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder. The Cars released “Just What I Needed” on their self-titled debut album in 1978. Last night’s career-spanning Red Hot Chili Peppers set was followed by an encore that started with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer performing “Purple Rain” by Prince and concluded with “Goodbye Angels” and “Give It Away.”
