Red Hot Chili Peppers Welcome George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic And Honor Mark Hollis In Brisbane

On Tuesday, Red Hot Chili Peppers continued a tour of Australia and New Zealand featuring support from funk legends George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane. The night ended with an encore that contained a tribute to Talk Talk’s Mark Hollis and a collaborative version of “Give It Away.”

The Chili Peppers treated fans to a 16-song main set featuring a mix of hits, rarities and jams. Tunes from eight different albums were played over the course of the set, including the recently revived “Fortune Faded.” Both “Snow (((Hey Oh))” and “Californication” began with extended instrumental intros. Last night’s set came to a close with a run of “The Getaway,” “Suck My Kiss,” “Under The Bridge” and “By The Way.”

Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer emerged by himself to begin the encore as he usually does. He performed Talk Talk’s “It’s My Life” in honor of Mark Hollis, who passed away earlier in the day. No Doubt scored a big hit with their version of the Talk Talk tune. Klinghoffer’s solo segment was followed by “Goodbye Angels.” Then, George Clinton and members of P-Funk joined the fray for a wild “Give It Away.” Clinton had performed the song with the Chili Peppers earlier in the tour, but this time members of his band were part of the mix.
