Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover ‘Cheers’ Theme Song In Boston

On Tuesday night the Red Hot Chili Peppers brought The Getaway World Tour to TD Bank Garden for the first of two shows in Boston. Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has been starting most encores on the tour with a cover or tribute and last night he played a song in honor of Beantown.

Cheers was an NBC sitcom based in a Boston bar that was a massive hit for most of its 11 season run. The show used a song titled “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” performed by Gary Portnoy as its theme song. Josh Klinghoffer performed a rendition of “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” with a little help from the Chili Peppers’ rhythm section of Flea and Chad Smith to kick off Tuesday’s encore.
