Rayland Baxter Covers My Morning Jacket

Singer-songwriter Rayland Baxter has released a new EP entitled Soho featuring stripped-down takes on four songs from his 2015 Imaginary Man LP. Also included in the new set from the Nashville-based musician is a cover of “Bermuda Highway” by My Morning Jacket.
Baxter was one of the artists on Jam Cruise 14 who left a strong impression on JamBase’s Scott Bernstein, who had this to say after seeing him last month aboard the MSC Divina:
I was unfamiliar with [Baxter]’s music but left a big fan. He has a goosebumps-inducing voice on top of reverb-laden guitar patterns. Baxter started with a handful of solo songs before welcoming Paul Hoffman of Greensky Bluegrass for a pair of tunes. The set came to a climax when Baxter showed off his impressive guitar skills on the final three songs of the performance on which he was backed by all of ALO. The members of ‘RayLO’ had only practiced once, but I wouldn’t have known that had Rayland not told the crowd as much. Can’t wait to get home and buy his records.
The five-song EP was recorded in London at Dean St. Studios where producer Tony Visconti’s oversaw several well-known releases. Purchase the new EP via ATO Records and stream “Bermuda Highway,” which originally appeared on MMJ’s 2001 album At Dawn, below:
