You can’t blame fans of legendary rock band The Kinks for getting excited when Ray Davies spoke with The Sun and revealed he has healed his relationship with brother Dave Davies and that they plan to perform together. However both Ray and Dave have clarified they don’t have plans to perform together soon.
Let’s start with what Ray told The Sun, “Dave and I will definitely work together again. And we want to play live.” The rocker went on to give a hint of where a reunited Kinks would perform, when he mentioned to The Sun, “Maybe The Kinks could play Glastonbury?” in regards to the famed U.K. festival.
Shortly after the article was run a note on The Kinks official Facebook page was posted that reads, “Ray Davies was misquoted at the recent Q awards. Both Ray and Dave have solo albums coming out next year and have no plans to re-unite in the immediate future.” Dave Davies took to his official Facebook page with a similar note, “ME AND RAY have not spoken about Kinks showS at all- although weRE TRYING TO WORK TOGETHER ON OTHER STUFF and have worked on music together. In the meantime we both have albums finished. My album Open Road I did with my son Russ comes out in 2017!”
Dave and Ray shared the stage last December for the first time in nearly 20 years. The brothers and founding members of The Kinks performed the band’s classic “You Really Got Me” at Islington Assembly Hall in London late last year. The Kinks last toured in 1996.
