New Jersey-based jamgrass vets Railroad Earth have released a live EP and accompanying performance video entitled The Castle Inn Sessions. The four-song effort features the help of a string quartet on a number of songs recorded for their 2014 album Last Of The Outlaws.
Premiered by Relix, The Castle Inn Sessions EP and film features renditions of “All That’s Dead May Live Again/Grandfather Mountain,” “Turba Mirum,” “Last Of The Outlaws” and “Take A Bow.” Here’s more about the historic venue located in Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania where the performance was recorded over a single day in October:
The Castle Inn was built in 1906. It had a coal fired, electric generator that lit 1600 lights! It also supplied power for the entire town of Delaware Water Gap. Enrico Caruso sang there. John Phillip Sousa performed there. Boxer Gene Tunney trained for his fight against Jack Dempsey there. Big band leader Fred Waring bought it in the 1950’s and based his publishing empire there.
Here’s a preview of the video footage for The Castle Inn Sessions which is available in full via Qello Concerts, of “Last Of The Outlaws.” Watch:
