Railroad Earth vocalist/guitarist Todd Sheaffer will take time off from touring in May to deal with a health issue. The band will move forward with a trio of festival plays that month in a special formation and under a different moniker.

Lindsay Lou will join Sheaffer’s bandmates May 17 – 19 as “Railroad Revue With Lindsay Lou.” The special performances will take place at the Greenbelt Music Festival in Clive, Iowa on May 17, at the Tico Time Bluegrass Festival in Aztec, New Mexico on May 18 and at The Golden Road Gathering in Placerville, California on May 19.

“Hobo family, we wanted to let you know that following April, Todd will be off the road and off the stage for a beat as he attends to a health issue,” wrote RRE in a note on social media. “It goes without saying there is no Railroad Earth without Todd Sheaffer, but with his encouragement, we’re teaming up with the incredible [Lindsay Lou] to play May 17-19 as Railroad Revue with Lindsay Lou. Thanks to Lindsay for stepping in to help us make these special shows happen, and we’re grateful for everyone’s support and understanding as Todd is on the mend.”

Lindsay Lou penned a note of her own about the situation. “I’m glad to be able to step in for a friend while he heals,” the singer-songwriter explained. “Railroad Earth has been one of my favorite bands to sing with over the years because of their remarkable ability to create space around the voice. We’re gonna make a damn good time of it, I have no doubt.”
