Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme Treated For Cancer

Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Josh Homme was diagnosed with cancer last year. Homme revealed little about the illness but stated he underwent successful surgery to treat the ailment.

Homme briefly discussed his condition in an interview with Revolver. The often reserved Homme shared few details but noted he was still healing from the surgery.

The interview was Homme’s first since before the pandemic, the death of several friends including Taylor Hawkins and Mark Lanegan, and the end of Homme’s marriage and subsequent protracted custody battle involving his children. Speaking in the context of those recent events, Homme said:

“I never say it can’t get any worse. I never say that, and I wouldn’t advise it. But I do say it can get better. Cancer is just the cherry on top of an interesting time period, you know? I’m extremely thankful that I’ll get through this, and I’ll look back at this as something that’s fucked up — but will have made me better. I’m cool with that. There’s a lot of stuff I want to do. And there’s a lot of people I want to do that with.”

Queens Of The Stone Age will release a new album, In Times New Roman..., this Friday, June 16. The album is the first from QOTSA since 2017.

The band will embark The End Is Nero Tour this summer, their first tour of North America since 2018. QOTSA recently returned to the stage with sets at the Boston Calling and Sonic Temple festivals
