Pro-Shot Video: Phil Lesh Joins Twiddle At Tumble Down 2017
Twiddle can now add Phil Lesh to their growing resume of onstage collaborators after last night’s lengthy second set sit-in by the legendary Grateful Dead bassist at the band’s own Tumble Down festival at Burlington, Vermont’s Waterfront Park. The show was heavy on guests and featured The Giant County Horns for the entirety of set one.
After set two’s opening “White Light,” Phil and his son Grahame Lesh joined for “Eyes of the World,” “When It Rains, It Pours” and “Subconscious Prelude” before a guest spot by Midnight North’s Alex Jordan on keys for “Latin Tang.” Midnight North vocalist Elliott Peck also added to “Eyes Of The World” and “When It Rains, It Pours.” Friday’s second set ended with another appearance by Dave Grippo (Giant Country Horns) on sax for “Lost In The Cold.”
As the Burlington Free Press reported, earlier in the festival’s opening day, Phil sat-in with Grahame’s band Midnight North on a cover of Jimmy Cliff’s “The Harder They Come” alongside Twiddle’s Mihali Savouldis who took lead vocal duties. The Grateful Dead bassist also performed on three other songs during Midnight North’s set at Tumble Down.
Twiddle returns to headline night two this evening after sets by Aqueous, Madaila and several others. Watch pro-shot video via Frendly Presents of Phil, Grahame and Elliott sitting-in on “Eyes Of The World” below:
