On Saturday night Pearl Jam brought their South American tour to a close by headlining the 2018 installment of Lollapalooza Brasil at the Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo. The seminal Seattle rock act delivered a lengthy career-spanning set that mixed their most well-known material with a handful of rarities and a sit-in from event founder and curator Perry Farrell on a Jane’s Addiction classic.

Eddie Vedder & Co. got the night underway with “Wash,” playing the B-side from the 1991 single for “Alive” for the first time since May of 2016 and for just the 88th time overall. The band leaned heavily on material from their early days playing seven tracks off their debut album delivering takes on classics like “Jeremy,” “Even Flow” and the aforementioned “Alive.” Over the course of their 26-song performance, Pearl Jam would touch seven of their studio albums, along with offering up tunes from their rarities collection Lost Dogs and one that originally appeared on the 1992 soundtrack for the Cameron Crowe movie Singles.

Prior to the start of the band’s recently released single “Can’t Deny Me” Vedder addressed the sold-out crowd as he talked about the “March For Our Lives” demonstrations that were happening earlier that day around the United States as he dedicated the song to them. After a take on “Even Flow” the band welcomed out Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell to the stage, who was celebrating his 58th birthday yesterday. Cake and a chorus of “Happy Birthday” followed with Farrell sticking around to lead Pearl Jam through a take on Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song.” It was the second time that Farrell had sat in with the band on the Nothing’s Shocking track, the last time taking place back in October of 2009 at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Later in the set, PJ offered up a snippet of the Talking Heads’ “Pulled Up” prior to “Unthought Known” from 2009’s Backspacer. While the Ten outtake “Hold On” was dusted off for the first time since 2014, and played for just the fifth time ever. A string of setlist staples helped close out their main set with takes on “Black,” “Once,” “Lukin” and “Porch.” Pearl Jam returned to the stage for a five-song encore with “Smile” from 1996’s No Code kicking things off. A cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” fan-favorite “Alive,” The Who’s “Baba O’Reilly” and their own “Yellow Ledbetter” brought the night to an end.
