Pro-Shot Full Show Video: The Disco Biscuits Go Home Again To Philadelphia

The Disco Biscuits kicked off three nights at The Fillmore Philadelphia on Thursday night. The quartet’s return to their hometown saw the band fill the Fillmore with favorites and rarities during the two set performance.

“Caterpillar” opened the first set of Bisco’s run in Philly. The rarity “Aquatic Ape” was broken out as the quartet worked up an inverted arrangement of the song led by bassist Marc Brownstein. Eventually, a segue ushered in guitarist Jon Gutwillig leading a cover of Men Without Hats’ ‘80s hit “The Safety Dance.” The opening sequence continued with a return to finish “Caterpillar.” Another sparsely played original, “Once The Fiddler Paid,” was tapped to close out the first set.

Keyboardist Aron Magner got a chance to show off his skills during the piano-driven second set opening “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line.” Brownie’s “Rock Candy” was followed by the first “Pimp Blue Rikki” of 2018. The second half progressed with the ending of “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line” before the busting out of “Spy” — a song only performed a handful of times in recent years and not at all in 2017 — which concluded the set. The foursome anchored by drummer Allen Aucoin came back to treat the hometown audience to an encore performance of the joyous “Home Again.”
