Dr. Cornel West
Dr. Cornel West – esteemed professor of religion at Princeton University, author of Race Matters and Democracy Matters – is set to release the follow up his 2001 musical debut, Sketches of My Culture, with another heady brew of politics, social issues, beats and more.

Due June 19 on Hidden Beach, Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations not only features West, but a slew of top talent including, Prince, Outkast‘s Andre 3000, Talib Kweli, Rhymefest, the Roots‘ Black Thought, Killer Mike, KRS-One, Dead Prez‘s M-1, and Rah Digga.

“This is an attempt to go back to hip-hop’s prophetic roots, which are about truth-telling, exposing lies, and having fun” said West in a recent interview with Billboard. “This is a very political album that doesn’t pull any punches,” he continues. “There are critiques of the Bush administration as well as of unaccountable corporate power, unaccountable police power and homophobia. We’re trying to get young people to wake up and recognize they’re part of a great tradition of struggle, to become organized and fight for freedom and justice.”
