Primus Debuts ‘Erin On The Side Of Caution’ In Grand Rapids

Primus offered the first live performance of new original “Erin On The Side Of Caution” during their concert on Tuesday in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The trio debuted the track from their recently released Conspiranoid EP towards the end of the first set last night at GLC Live at 20 Monroe.

“Erin On The Side Of Caution” is the third and final track on Conspiranoid. Primus previously debuted the lengthy “Conspiranoia” in Oklahoma City on April 15 and premiered Conspiranoid’s “Follow The Fool” on April 23 in Madison, Wisconsin.

After opening with “Harold Of The Rocks” and “Fisticuffs” last night, bassist Les Claypool cut the ensuing “The Pressman” short when he forgot the lyrics to the Pork Soda classic. “Erin On The Side Of Caution” came later in the all-original frame. Primus then played a bit of “Welcome To The World” before capping the frame with the beloved “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver.”

The trio featuring Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim Alexander devoted their second set to a complete performance of Rush’s 1977 studio album, A Farewell To Kings, as they have at all headlining dates in 2021 and 2022. Primus worked “Sgt. Baker” within “Too Many Puppies” to kick off last night’s encore. A pairing of “Follow The Fool” and “Southbound Pachyderm” ended the night.
