A hole was left in the lineup for the inaugural Power Trip festival earlier this week when Ozzy Osbourne canceled due to health concerns. Judas Priest stepped up to fill the slot at the new event, which will be held October 6 – 8 at Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.

Judas Priest and AC/DC will perform at Power Trip on Saturday, October 7. The three-day festival gets underway with shows from Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden on Friday, October 6. Metallica and Tool close out the Goldenvoice-produced event on Sunday, October 8.

“My body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed,” wrote Ozzy on social media this past Monday in announcing his decision to pull out of Power Trip. Osbourne explained the band replacing him “are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed” in the statement.

Ozzy had tapped Judas Priest to join his No More Tours 2 trek. The tour was originally slated for 2019 and was postponed until 2023. Osbourne then scrapped the tour and announced his retirement from the road back in February.

Judas Priest heralded their appearance at Power Trip, writing:

“POWER TRIPPERS ARE YOU READY FOR SOME JUDAS PRIEST STYLE HEAVY METAL! WE ARE EXCITED AND READY TO RAISE DOUBLE HORNS WAY UP HIGH TOGETHER. KEEPING THE METAL FAITH AT THIS BOSTIN ONE OF A KIND POWER TRIP WORLD EVENT!”
