Pixies shared their first studio music with new bassist Emma Richardson. The long-running alt-rock outfit led by Black Francis released a double single featuring a new song, “You’re So Impatient,” and a cover of “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)” (pre-order 7″ vinyl).

Emma Richardson joined Pixies following the departure of Paz Lenchantin, who had performed and recorded with the band since 2014 after the departure of founding bassist Kim Deal and touring bassist Kim Shattuck.

A painter and musician, Richardson played in the Band of Skulls for ten years before joining the Pixies. Emma has been playing live with the band since March.

Her first recorded music with Pixies arrived this week. Richardson appears on the driving rocker, “You’re So Impatient,” which Pixies frontman Black Francis detailed in a statement.

“‘You’re So Impatient’ is a slightly comedic suburban culture moment: There’s this guy; there’s this gal; there’s this tug-of-love dynamic going on. But the backdrop is the mall. And while the mall is crass, it’s also a very zombie, rock’n’roll horror movie setting.”

Pixies also shared a cover of the Jay Livingston and Ray Evans-penned “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be).” The song was performed by Doris Day in the 1956 Alfred Hitchcock film, The Man Who Knew Too Much.
